New B&Q Opens

RobJanuary 31, 2009 by Rob

The new B&Q has opened in Beverley Way, New Malden. The state of the art store includes solar panels and wind turbines on site to generate 10% of its own energy requirements, earning it the proud title of “eco store”. The big tower you can see it on has signage which is self powered!

From a shopping point of view it's a whole lot better than the original one, from a traffic point of view it's a nightmare since Burlington Road just jams up because of it at the weekend. Parking was also difficult but mainly because the B&Q car park sign suggested that the upper level was full so people were driving round trying to find a spot on the ground floor. It turned out there were loads of spaces on the first! I expect it will calm down a bit once everyone from the surrounding area has done their 'lets go and have a look' trip (I hope!)
